General targeting

The advertising module built on the platform is to help our agents come up with a healthy budget for advertising in the general area. We use these funds to pay Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn to help generate your leads. However, Google, Facebook and LinkedIn generally target individuals by IP addresses and may not be 100% accurate. The way these platforms target individuals is further explained below:

What is an IP address?

An IP address is a label that is used to identify one or more devices (e.g., Computer or Mobile) and is assigned to a device by your mobile or internet provider. Although targeting people by IP addresses is the most accurate way to target someone on the internet, it has it disadvantages:

1) Incorrectly assigned IPs. It varies by mobile/internet providers but sometimes incorrect IP addresses are assigned to a device that might make someone appear in an area they aren't actually inside.

2) Changing IPs. When a user travels through an area, they may get assigned a different IP address. For example, they may live in the suburbs but work downtown - they may have a downtown IP address.

3) Targeting. Google & Facebook's location targeting also targets people who "show interest" in the area and are included in the targeting. This can result in individuals outside an area being targeted but generally, are interested in the area.

Change Your Targeting

You can increase or decrease the radius around your area inside your settings. Read the full guide here.

Our Policy

Our policy for location targeting is the same as Google, Facebook, LinkedIn. While we make the best effort to ensure your leads come from your area (or close by), we cannot guarantee all your leads will be inside your area and you may experience leads from outside your area. Unfortunately, there is little we can do about this since we provide your postal codes (or zip codes) to Google, Facebook, LinkedIn and they rely on the lead's IP address (provided by a mobile/internet provider).

In the rare case you are consistently getting leads from far outside your area (over 15KMs), please write our advertising team at [email protected] and they will look into your areas/ submit a report to Google, Facebook, or LinkedIn. You may be eligible for credit from Google, Facebook or LinkedIn.
